Message from Our Pastor
Welcome to Turin Baptist Online!
Church bells ringing joyously on Sunday mornings stir deep emotions and memories - calling the community to church. Ringing bells often causes us to pause and reflect, reminding us of the vital role our faith and church play in our lives. All across our country, the sound of church bells ringing remind us that the church is alive and well today!
As you ride through the small town of Turin, GA on a Sunday morning, you will hear the ringing of the church bell, located within the steeple of Turin Baptist Church, promptly at 11:00am. That tradition has continued for more than 130 years, as the congregation gathers together to worship our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. If you should come and visit with us (and we hope you will), you will receive a warm and welcome greeting as our honored guest. But please don't be hesitant to enter the doors of our beautiful little country church!
A.W. Tozer famously emphasized quality over quantity when it comes to church. The statement he made was this, "It's better to have a little church that is real than a big church that is artificial." We agree wholehearted with that statement. And that's exactly what you will find at TBC... a little church worshipping and serving a BIG GOD! It has become common practice in many churches to offer people, especially young people, a maximum of entertainment and a minimum of sound Biblical preaching. The popular Christ being preached today IS NOT the Christ of the Bible, nor the Christ who will one day return to be our final Judge. He is the one who will return to Judge the world, and HE is the one with whom we must deal. We cannot escape that day!
In the 15th Chapter of the Gospel of John, Jesus clearly explained to us the responsibilities and priorities which must be established in our lives as we seek to follow him. This is our mission as the congregation of Turin Baptist Church. We have answered the call of Jesus to ABIDE in Christ, to LOVE one another, and to TESTIFY to the world.
This mission which has been set before us promises to be an exciting and rewarding journey, a journey we would love to experience together with you. If you are new to the community or looking for a church home, we would love to talk with you about these important decisions, and how we might pray with you in this quest.
In HIS love and mine,
Pastor Jerry Cross
